If, like us, you are a happy owner of MacBook Pro with Touch Bar, here is a custom bar for Acrobat & PitStop that will greatly improve your productivity.
After we posted our first Touch Bar trial on LinkedIn, we received a lot of requests to find out how we did it.
Today we will not only show you what we have done, but also offer our Touch Bar as download!
Better Touch Tool
To create our custom Touch Bar, we used the awesome Better Touch Tool utility that allows you to create shortcuts for trackpads, Magic Mouse, Apple Remote, etc. and of course customizing the touch Bar.
You can try this utility for 45 days to get an idea. But be careful, trying it is adopting 😉
We have chosen to have a complete toolbar, without scrolling; therefore, we had to restrict the choice of tools to display.
Our Touch Bar looks like this:
- Link to this help page
- Enfocus Undo
- Enfocus Redo
- Select Object
- Show/Hide Wireframe
- Show/Hide Page Boxes
- Preflight Profiles
- Global Changes
- Action Lists
- Document Properties
- Audit Space Usage*
- Show/Hide Output Preview**
- Show/Hide Acrobat Preflight
*For the shortcut to work, your optimization settings must be saved.
Indeed, we use keyboard control keys (tab) to reach the right menu. If your settings are not saved, the shortcut will select the saving of your current setting instead.
**Single-key accelerators must be activated in Acrobat preferences.
Download the following file, unzip it and follow the installation procedure below.
From Better Touch Tool preferences, click on the button “Manage presets” at the bottom left of the window, then click on “Import” and choose the preset that we have done for you and that you have previously downloaded on your machine (our Touch Bar works both in English and French).
Launch Acrobat, open a file and test!
Of course, we made our choice of tools for for this Touch Bar, but do not hesitate to give us suggestions in the comments below!
