Enfocus has released the 2019 version of its PitStop Pro and PitStop Server products. As usual, the software vendor continues to innovate by offering new features particularly useful in production. Here are the three features that we think are the most interesting.
Show objects outside of page box
In case you still do not know, a correctly formatted PDF file contains up to 5 page boxes delimited by geometric coordinates. The mediabox being, as such, the technical area supposed to contain all the elements of the PDF file.
However, it may happen that some content is present outside this box, and this can generate problems during production (printing, imposition, etc.). It is then necessary to analyze the PDF file to detect these elements; for that, it was previously necessary to enlarge the boxes manually, to find the objects then to setup the boxes to their initial values. Some much time lost!
This new feature now allows you to view these contents with one click.
Rasterize selection
Watch out, unusual statement to come. No, vectors are not always your friends, and in some cases, they can even become really problematic. Indeed, some graphics may contain a particularly large number of anchor points making it difficult to use the PDF file in production. In these extreme cases, the only solution is to raster the artwork. So far, this operation was not possible with PitStop and required to use other software such as Adobe Photoshop.
You can now select objects and set useful parameters to get the job done within PitStop. The number of paths decreases drastically while preserving print quality! Yes, pixels can sometimes be preferred to vectors!
Object Browser
PitStop is excellent in modifying properties of selected objects. But it was sometimes difficult to understand the structure of the file. The object browser gives a new overview of your document by displaying a list of all elements of the PDF file. Even more, you can directly select objects within the browser, and use the selection to make modifications.
This new feature is really handy and there is no doubt that you will love it!
What else ?
As usual, PitStop contains a lot of other new features and bug fixes. Feel free to take a look at all of these additions. If you own a 2017 or 2018 version of PItStop, you can take easily update your version to PitStop 2019. Otherwise, you might be interested in the acquisition of PitStop. Do not hesitate to ask us!
